Super Fat Felty Kitty Magnets

Does your fridge look sad? Like, really sad? Like, I feel so neglected with regard to my facade that I wish you would just pull the plug on me?

The two cats pictured above are my prototypes (aka, test subjects) for stitching options.  Angry Spoon magnet isn't happy with their appearance on our fridge.

Recycled Sari Yarn Vases

First, I'd like to give a shout out to Darn Good Yarn, a wonderful small business run by Nicole Snow. She specializes in recycled yarns and ribbons that are bought directly from women's groups in Nepal.

These vases were rescued from a local thrift store and spruced up with some patience and a skein of unrefined sari silk yarn. The vase itself is still intact and would add pizzazz to any fresh bouquet.

These are the two finished vases available, but there are several more naked vases ready for a makeover.

 

These vases are just $5 each.

Amigurumi Angry Birds

Angry Birds appears to have surpassed Farmville on the more-addictive-than-crystal-meth-meter. Given the ready availability of apps that grant you the ability to fling disgruntled fowl at porcine gluttons, Curious Goods couldn't resist the chance to transform this fad into a nifty craft!

Therefore, I have create THE SUPER AMAZING AMIGURUMI ANGRY BIRDS GANG. Pummel your enemies. Show no mercy. Hell, pummel your friends! They were asking for it! 

The only flaw in this set is that all birds are not to scale. Fortunately for you, this set is MJ's! All future sets will be much more authentic. The average height in a set is ~3".

Each glorious set is available for $25. Individual birds are $5.

Ahab, the Knit Squid!

Behold, my first amigurumi! His name is Ahab, though he still has all of his legs and isn't obsessed with revenge against pigmentally-challenged aquatic mammals.

Measuring nearly 20" long from head to tentacle, Ahab has enough arms to hug you four times over. He's quite content to perch on a book shelf or other vantage point, overseeing your daily life. No worries, he won't tell anyone about that thing you do when no one is looking.

Here he is spending some quality time with Jekyll. Shhh, Jekyll, just relax and enjoy the massage.

Ahab is available for the low, low price of $15. Upon request, he can be genetically modified to exhibit a different coloration.

Tile Trivets, Tan Stone

I have a handful of 6"x6" tumbled stone tiles that make stellar trivets. Here are two of them, outfitted with wine cork feet to prevent damage to your tables and counters.

Paper and Ribbon Picture Frame

I know, it's been a long time since I've posted a new item. My goal right now is to focus on making items using the supplies I've already acquired. Here's a cute one to get things rolling.

This standard, ho-hum picture frame got a much needed face lift with the help of some blue tissue paper and lime green ribbon. (The blue is actually more "royal blue" and less "neon blue" than the camera suggests.)

This frame holds a 5"x7" photo and can sit on a flat surface (vertical or horizontal) or hang on the wall. For just $6, this unique frame is great as an accent piece or a thoughtful gift.

Twisted Knit Scarf

I made this scarf for myself, but I figured I should put a couple photos up in case someone was interested in commissioning one of their own.

It's a double-knit design that creates a diagonal pattern. I made mine in "Grass" and "Aqua" with tassels in "Clay."  Price would depend on the number of colors wanted, but should be about $15.

Eat your heart out, Myspace.

"Stained Glass" Wine Glass

These wine glasses were too scuffed to hang out with the fancy alcoholic beverage serving containers. Kicked to the curb, I've brought them home to show them that slapping a little lipstick on can do wonders.

This particular roughed-up diamond in the rough is sporting the bright red "lipstick." Other available colors include orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, and pink (with bolds and pastels available for each). Decorate your window sill, slip a small candle inside for romantic lighting, or just let them be themselves on any available flat surface.

Just don't try to drink out of them. Epoxy isn't tasty, folks.

Wine glasses may very in size, as these are all reclaimed glassware. I have two available that are 7" tall (including the one pictured) and six available that are 6" tall. Each one is $2.50, regardless of color choice.

Wild and Crazy Cowl!

No, not cow. COWL. In case you're not familiar with this accessory, it's pretty much a scarf eating its own tail. Yes, I was skeptical as well. However, after making this one, I think I'm sold.

This strange creature started out as a standard scarf made from alternating brown and tan sections while occasionally working in black and sandstone fur yarn to add texture and contrast. Due to my minimal knit edging, the whole thing turned in on itself, creating a long tube of scarf. I tried to convince it to lay flat like a good scarf, but it would have none of it. In the end, I let the scarf follow it's true nature and pretend to be knit in the round when it wasn't.

I added tassels to each color change on the scarf, creating this aesthetically unique horizontal fringe. Once the whole thing was fringed and the two ends were sewn together, I let the strange new creature cuddle up around my neck.

And I'll be damned, this thing is pretty awesome! It's like a scarf that can't come loose or get caught on something. The stockinette stitch leaves it with a lot of "give" so you can easily stretch it over your head. After the exhausting photo shoot, I let the cute thing explore one of my kitchen chairs. Note the fringe sections along the length.

After that, the poor little thing was all tuckered out and took a nap.

I'm selling this odd cowl creature for $20, which is a bit more than my other knit items (but is due to needing 4 different yarns to do this design). Similar cowls can be made with different colors upon request.

Lipstick Wine Glass

While most of us COOL CHICKS would love to sport a fancy mustache while sipping away on a glass of wine, some of the more refined women would prefer a more feminine touch.

Purchase a pair as a "His & Hers" set. Or you can just get a lipstick glass for yourself. Heck, you could get a lipstick glass for yourself and pick up a 'stache pint glass for your man. Either way, these lip-sporting wine glasses are $5 each. (Made from brand new glassware, not reclaimed.)
